How to Spot Market Manipulation in the Crypto Space | Coin Bureau

How to Spot Market Manipulation in the Crypto Space | Coin Bureau

Welcome to this cryptocurrency video posted by Coin Bureau. In this video you learn about how to spot market manipulation in the crypto space.

How do you avoid market manipulation in crypto

  • Pump & Dump Crypto

Market participants and in some cases insiders will manipulate a cryptocurrency in order to 'pump' up the price in hopes that it gains attention. When other parties start to 'fomo' into the crypto the bad actors will 'dump' the coin and make their profits. This will result in the price going back down and the new parties who fomo'd into the cryptocurrency will lose value.

  • Order Book Spoofing Crypto

Order book spoofing is like an illusion. Market participants will create large buy or sell orders without any intent to actually execute the orders. This gives the impression that there is increased demand or selling pressure. Other market participants who see these orders may act upon it and get fooled into decreasing or increasing their position. This is exactly what the spoofer wants to happen. When this happens they will do the opposite and take advantage of the price movement.

  • Wash Trading Crypto

Wash trading is simply the buying and selling of the same asset over and over again to inflate the volume of trades in the digital asset. This makes it look like the digital asset is getting more traction and attention than it really is. This is a way that some projects or market participants will conduct marketing to gain exposure of a specific digital asset.

  • Stop Loss Hunting Crypto

Stop loss hunting in the crypto space is when market participants drive the price down through selling pressure in order to hit certain price points to trigger stop losses. The goal of the market participants who do this is to fill their bags at lower prices.

  • Fear, Uncertainty & Doubt Crypto

Creating a narrative and spreading fake news is a tactic used in both the cryptocurrency space and in traditional markets. Spreading stories that are not true can still get a lot of attention and make it hard to find the real underlying story of a digital asset. Many people will take fake news as if it were real and act upon it by selling their positions.

Cryptocurrency Market Manipulation Awareness

Make sure that you are aware of all these cryptocurrency market manipulation tactics and that you do your own research when purchasing a new digital asset or when learning about news related to the market as a whole or related to your individual holdings.

Coins vs Tokens | Ivan Liljeqvist Explains

Coins vs Tokens | Ivan Liljeqvist Explains

Welcome to this blockchain educational video by Ivan Liljeqvist. In this video you will learn what coins and tokens are.

A digital coin is an asset that is native to its own blockchain. For example the blockchain Bitcoin has its own coin called ‘Bitcoin’. The Ethereum blockchain also has its own coin called ‘Ether’. Ethereum is a blockchain that allows for ‘smart contracts’ to be implemented. Through smart contracts you can program a set of rules which outline the functions of a ‘token’. Tokens are thus built on a specific blockchain and get paired to the native ‘coin’ of that blockchain.

Both ‘coins and tokens’ only exist in digital form. When one person sends ‘coins or tokens’ to another person’s public address, the database will adjust and the new ‘address’ is given control/ownership of the ‘coins or tokens’.

What is a Smart Contract | Explained

What is a Smart Contract | Explained

Welcome to this blockchain educational video by Simply Explained - Savjee. In this video you will learn what a smart contract is.

A smart contract is a set of rules that prompts a result or series of results. Take a vending machine for example that has a bunch of candy products in it. If I choose the option for a $1 bag of chips, the machine will then give me a bag of chips once I provide it with my $1. Smart contracts operate in a similar way - but they operate on a decentralized grid - a blockchain.

Decentralization | TEDx Beacon Street

Decentralization | TEDx Beacon Street

Welcome to this cryptocurrency video posted by TEDx Talks. In this video you will learn about decentralization.

Decentralization: The first crypto term you should know is 'Decentralization'. Decentralization is the transfer of power away from a central location, organization or administrator. No one single entity has control. Decisions and in the case of blockchains the processing of transactions are not all done in one place.

What Is The Blockchain? CryptoCandor

What Is The Blockchain? CryptoCandor

Welcome to this blockchain educational video by CryptoCandor. In this episode Alex talks about - what is the Blockchain?

Bitcoin (the first cryptocurrency) and most other cryptocurrencies are based on blockchains, otherwise referred to as distributed ledger technology (DLT). These distributed ledgers record every transaction made on their network, while simultaneously making the transactions available to all users to review. Transactions are approved when nodes on the network verify the transactions through solving a complex mathematical equation. This is known as proof of work. A new block is created which has the hash of the previous block.

Learn more about blockchains by viewing the video above and by checking out the guide below.

Proof of Stake vs Proof of Work | PoS vs PoW Explained

Proof of Stake vs Proof of Work | PoS vs PoW Explained

Welcome to this cryptocurrency educational video posted by Simply Explained on YouTube. In this video you will learn about Proof of Stake vs Proof of Work.

POS

Instead of computational power being used as is the case in POW by miners. In a POS system, the creator of the new blocks is determined at random, within the parameters of variables such as how much of that cryptocurrency a user is holding, and in some cases for how long they have held that cryptocurrency. POS uses far less energy then POW making it more cost effective and relieves pressure from the network to release new tokens as a reward.

POW

POW or Proof of work is a way that blockchains remain protected from various types of attacks. POW usually requires computing power by the service requester to solve an intensive puzzle of sorts. POW makes it much less feasible and ideally not worth it to attack or spam a blockchain and to use it as it is intended.
